Revisit Holy Week 2021

The Holy Week Devotional Booklet (mailed to some, others will pick up on Saturday, and others will be delivered on Saturday) It has information about each day of this week, what you can add to your sacred space, and reflections for home use for each day. No technology required, and you can worship at your own pace in your own time.

Holy Saturday (April 3)

Holy Saturday Service (April 3) at 8am
Much as Good Friday helps us build the spiritual muscle memory of Christ's presence with us when we experience tragedy and trauma, Holy Saturday strengthens us for death and grief.
On Zoom: Meeting ID: 443 242 270 | Password: 1enqiZr1

Prayer before the Tomb (April 3) 9-11am
We are opening the church by appointment to come and pray in contemplation of Christ's tomb - in this time of the liturgical year when Christ is dead and not yet risen. You must sign up by Thursday in order to have a space to pray in the church.

Good Friday (April 2)

Good Friday Service (April 2) at Noon
On Good Friday we walk with Jesus through suffering and torture to death. It is in observing Good Friday that we are prepared for the real pain of life. The Body of Christ carries us, both broken and healed.

Good Friday Veneration of the Cross (April 2) 1-3pm
We are opening the church by appointment to come and pray before the cross of Christ. You must sign up by Thursday in order to have a space to pray in the church.

Stations of the Cross (April 2) at 7pm
On Good Friday we observe the last Stations of the Cross of Lent. We walk with Jesus, using first person narrative devotions at each station.

Maundy Thursday (April 1) at 7pm

On this first day of the Triduum (the great 3 days of Holy Week), we reflect on servanthood, and how to live into the example Jesus set for us. We enter into humility, acknowledge mortality, and recognize we were created to serve.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday Holy Week Compline (March 29-31) at 7pm

Join us for the beautiful, short service of Compline M-W in Holy Week and hear readings of anointing, prophesy, and betrayal.

Sunday of the Passion/Palm Sunday (March 28)

On this Sunday we ride with Jesus triumphant into Jerusalem and then have a whiplash moment when we hear the story of his torture and death. Wear red, wave your palms, and sing beloved hymns as we begin our Holy Week journey.

Welcome to St. Gregory's – virtually! We know that the church is not the building in which we worship – but the people who worship and share God’s love with the world. In this time of social distancing, we will practice connectivity in new and powerful ways, for we know we all are connected as one in the Lord. Life is very different than we knew it to be, and yet our anchor in God’s love remains the same. All shall be well!

We are people from all walks of life and all parts of Chicagoland. Most people who worship here didn’t grow up Episcopalian, but seek to radiate God’s grace by gathering community and sharing joy and hope in the world. Join us however works for you: participate in Zoom worship, follow our livestream, help us give to the community, read with our kids, or even be a pen pal to get to know someone new.

Online Worship

Everyone is experiencing the Pandemic in different ways. Many people are experiencing deeper loss than they ever have before, and we are here to support them during this time. If you are experiencing loss and grief, we are here to pray with you, talk with you, and help financially.

The Body of Christ exists to care for each other. Sometimes we can be generous, and sometimes we receive generosity. Both are equal acts of faith and grace, and one cannot exist without the other.
