We are Christ's siblings in the LORD
An excerpt from Matthew 12:46-50 (NRSV)
“Here are my mother and my brothers! For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”
Reflection from Marjie Koons:
In my childhood family, all love had to be earned. Even then it was extremely limited… certainly no free hand outs especially if you didn’t get all A’s!! As an adult and involved with being a Eucharist Minister for 20+ year it showed me what family was truly about. Visiting parishioners in difficult times, being supportive and helping them deal with changes, supporting families and the dying, helping those crossing over at the end of life, it all taught me how to love unconditionally. Growing to love those that I was visiting and sharing prayers and the sacrament was such a sacred time. My personal blessing is that I thought I was ministering to them when, in fact, they were showing me more love and acceptance than I had ever known. We are all in this world together. We all struggle in our own ways, yet we are tied together through Christ. We can rejoice in His unconditional love, being brothers and sisters united in our Lord Jesus Christ. Let’s make this our joint mission for the new year.
