We are Christ’s siblings in the LORD
An excerpt from Matthew 12:46-50 (NRSV)
Here are my mother and my brothers! For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.
Reflection from Meredith Potter:
I am blessed to be part of a large and loving family. But when I had a sudden and traumatic injury last winter, my loving family was caring, concerned, but hundreds of miles away. And yet members of St. Gregory’s reached out to me immediately, not only praying for me but also providing me with the help and care I needed. That experience of being so loved and cared for taught me to understand “family” as having a much broader meaning than just being related by birth. We, the beloved community of St. Gregory’s Church, are called by God to be family to each other, and to become family to others who need our prayers, concern, and care.
For further study and prayer, the readings assigned for today are:
Psalm 148; Isaiah 54:1-13; Revelation 21:1-7
