Ballot for Sale of Rectory House & Land

This is a ballot to cast a vote to sell the property described below. On September 22, the Vestry voted unanimously in favor of a resolution reflecting this proposal. We must now obtain a 2/3 vote of all eligible members of St. Gregory's to bring the matter before the Standing Committee and Bishop of Chicago. Thank you for your participation.

Part A

The vestry, wardens, and rector may offer for sale to the Deerfield Park District the Rectory house and an approximately 23,000 square-foot parcel of adjacent land. (See blue box in image below.)

Part B

In the event the Deerfield Park District will not purchase at a price and/or at a timing satisfactory to the vestry, then the vestry, wardens, and rector may engage a real estate broker to list an approximately 33,000 square-foot parcel that includes the Rectory and most of the Labyrinth, to be purchased by an individual buyer. (See red box in image below.)

Eligibility to Vote

Per the canons of the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago, those eligible to vote are those individuals who

  • are baptized and 16+ years of age,

  • regularly attend services,

  • are recognized as members by the Rector and Wardens,

  • have made a financial contribution or have an active pledge within the past 6 months,

  • and who declare their willingness to conform to the Doctrine, Discipline, and Worship of the Episcopal Church.
