Do unto others
An excerpt from Luke 6:27-31 (NRSV)
But I say to you that listen, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. If anyone strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also; and from anyone who takes away your coat do not withhold even your shirt. Give to everyone who begs from you; and if anyone takes away your goods, do not ask for them again. Do to others as you would have them do to you.
Reflection from Butler Sharpe:
Having spent some 50+ years in criminal justice, Luke’s gospel presents a difficult challenge for me and maybe some of you, ‘Love your enemies’ and those who have committed crimes against their love ones, neighbor and the society, at large. However, we are fully aware of how God loves us. Therefore, we must practice love in all of our words and actions, in other words, put down your stones, and love.
For further study and prayer, the readings assigned for today are:
Psalm 110; Proverbs 22:1-9; Luke 6:27-31

“This Little Light of Mine”
African American Spiritual, arr. Robert Harris.
“This little light of mine,
I’m gonna let it shine.
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!
Everywhere I go,
I’m gonna let it shine.
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!
All through the night,
I’m gonna let it shine.
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!”
