God's treasures
An excerpt from Exodus 19:5-6a (NRSV):
Now therefore, if you obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession out of all the peoples. Indeed, the whole earth is mine, but you shall be for me a priestly kingdom and a holy nation.
Reflection from Marjie Koons:
You shall be my treasured possession”….what a goal that would be to achieve!!Being with my mother when she was dying, she awoke, reached over and felt the bracelet I was wearing. She touched each of the stones, then stopped at the smoothest one and said, “Out of all my children, you are the shiniest andmost special.” My relationship with her was always very fractured, so these words of endearment will always be a treasure to me.“You shall be for me a priestly kingdom and a holy nation”…..huge task, sounds way too overwhelming, but I can, andI will....continue to say kind words, take time to smile and offer encouragement to others. I will be there for those alone, loving those that feel unloved and be that supportive listening ear to those that need it. I will continue to hug and to hold someone’s hand, loving them as my Lord loves me.
