What does God command?
An excerpt from Jeremiah 7:23-24 (NRSV)
“Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people; and walk only in the way that I command you, so that it may be well with you.”
Reflection from Nanci Patterson,
with Paula Moss, Trinity Episcopal Church:
Each year I look forward to Lent as a time for reflection and recommitment to my baptismal vows; a time of exploration and abandonment of behaviors of which I don’t think God particularly approves. I am often ashamed to realize I could be living in my best Lenten behaviors every day. Jeremiah reminds me that God’s wishes are written on my heart, always accessible and with me always. Thanks be to God!
