What does God desire of me?
An excerpt from Hosea 1:6 (NRSV)
For I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God rather than burnt-offerings.
Reflection from John Bicknell,
Trinity Episcopal Church:
What can one see in this passage that talks about burnt offerings? The point that is most important is steadfast love and the knowledge of God. We need to explain the idea of steadfast love, one that is true and unvarying. Then the next important thing to think about is the knowledge of God. What does God desire of me? To improve my life and do for others. To see in others the face of God.
