Anointing of Jesus
An excerpt from John 12:3 (NRSV):
Mary took a pound of costly perfume made of pure nard, anointed Jesus’ feet, and wiped them with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
Reflection from Zion Lutheran Confirmation Class:
Mary knew that Jesus was someone special and anointed his feet with expensive perfume; He deserved something very precious to honor him.To dry his feet with her hair is to show great respect, and was a very personal gesture. The scent permeated the room, signifying that this was an action that would show honor to all, and how this was a perfect worship of the Lord and what He has done. Should we do any less than Mary?
