God is ever present in our distress
An excerpt from Psalm 18:4-7 (NRSV)
The cords of death encompassed me; the torrents of perdition assailed me; the cords of Sheol entangled me; the snares of death confronted me. In my distress I called upon the Lord; to my God I cried for help. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears.
Reflection from Cissy Singleton,
St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church:
Many times when I have struggled with sadness or stress I remind myself to pray. I take quiet time to pray and ask for God to hear my prayer and be with me. When I open my mind and heart to feel God’s presence, I am reassured, and he lifts me up.
