New world is coming
An excerpt from 2 Peter 3:8-13 (NRSV)
But, in accordance with his promise, we wait for new heavens and a new earth, where righteousness is at home.
Reflection from Sudi Johnson:
YIKES – we have been in the waiting room a lot lately – through the pandemic we waited for restrictions to lift and the vaccine to be available; the delayed election results, we waited; for our children and grandchildren to be vaccinated, we waited; and we wait with great hope to resume fully accessible worship at St Gregory’s. But I do get stuck with that word ‘righteousness.’ I’m learning it does not mean ‘self’ righteous – when used in a religious context – but I’ve read, “free from guilt or sin, or pure, spiritual, noble, honorable, a holy life.” But what if this holy life needs to reside “at home“ inside me as a start? Oh, dear. If we believe we are God’s beloved, then God feels that way about everyone and so should we. Oh, what a day that will be, right?
