An excerpt from Psalm 51:10 (NRSV)
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me.
Reflection from Meredith Potter:
A psychologist recently suggested that adopting and repeating a mantra daily has helped many people remain emotionally and mentally healthy during this period of isolation from family and loved ones. As I reflect on this verse from one of my favorite psalms, I find the words, “Create in me a clean heart, O God,” to be the perfect mantra for me to adopt for my spiritual well-being during Lent. And so I will begin each day during Lent with this prayer, and continue to pray these words throughout each day.

“Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis”
by R. Vaughan Williams played
by the BBC Symphony Orchestra
This video was recorded in Gloucester Cathedral, where it was first conducted by the composer in 1910. While obviously there is no text, the journey on which Vaughan Williams brings his listeners feels like a pilgrimage, intended to refresh, renew, and revive the Spirit.
