St. Gregory's Preschool Program

Vision
St. Gregory’s Episcopal Preschool has been established by St. Gregory’s parishioners with
an educational philosophy focused on providing a foundation for life long learning. We believe that early childhood education creates the roots for developing the whole child.

To that end, our Preschool offers a Christian education component that includes songs, stories, and worship within the Episcopal tradition, yet reflecting the central Christian teachings and values shared by all denominations.

Experience
The program provides for the developmentally appropriate social, emotional, cognitive, spiritual, and physical needs of young children.

We teach the CREATIVE CURRICULUM program which is used by Deerfield District 109. This curriculum affords opportunities for one-to-one and group social interaction, independent exploration, and making choices during free play. We will foster your children's growth, nurture their success, and build their self-esteen.

Staff
Your child will benefit from a highly qualified staff with broad professional experience and a strong commitment to continuing education. We strive to provide the best early learning experience for your child and to support your work as parents.

St. Gregory's Episcopal Preschool is licensed by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and we exceed the standars set by DCFS for teacher qualification.

Faith Based
As a ministry of St. Gregory’s Church, our Preschool will give your children a joyful experience of age-appropriate Christian community by:
· Learning about God through nature, friends, and community.
· Joining a community of children, teachers, and families who seek “to love God and to love your neighbor as yourself.”
· Celebrating the Seasons of the Church Year, including Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter.
· Saying prayers for their families, friends, community, and world.
· Giving thanks for their blessings and grace as a group before snacks.
· Learning and singing songs and carols.
· Visiting and becoming familiar with the church setting through instructed visits.

Program Structure
Our program is designed to nurture the spiritual, physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of the individual child. Our program is multiage. Kindergarteners and preschoolers share the same classroom space and teachers. The curriculum allows for separate age appropriate lessons as well as opportunities for older and younger children to work together. Recognizing the importance of play to young children, supervised free play is scheduled daily. Circle time, songs, and stories are an essential part of the program. Gross and fine motor skills are integrated through indoor and outdoor play.
