Ministries at St. Gregory's

In addition to our Sunday worship, St. Gregory's provides a multitude of activities and experiences which centers our lives on Christ and his teachings.

"This Church is a communicable experience caught by people susceptible to joy and love."

Christian Education

  • Adult Forum - Offers presentations and discussions for adults on a wide range of subjects on most Sundays during the Church School year.

  • Church School - Provides exciting and relevant classroom experiences for children and young adults (ages 3 through high school) on Sunday mornings (10:10 to 10:50 AM), September through June. Catechesis of the Good Shepherd takes place in our Atrium for ages 3-6, with Godly Play for children 7-9. Other Christian formation programs for older youth, including junior and senior high school youth groups. These programs are coordinated by a Director of Christian Education and taught by our own parishioners. Current enrollment exceeds 120 children.

  • Small Groups - From Bible study groups to more in-depth Education for Ministry, these groups are conveniently set up to reach people desiring an opportunity to learn more.

  • Teaching Mission - The Ted White Teaching Mission brings renowned speakers to St Gregory’s on a bi-annual basis.

    Fellowship

  • Fellowship - From worship on Sundays to groups formed purely for fun and social interaction, there are opportunities for all of us, at any age.

    Music Ministry

  • Chancel Choir - The Chancel Choir is central to our worship at St. Gregory's. We prepare the hearts of the congregation for the preaching of the Word through the singing of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. The choir is open to anyone who can read music and who loves to sing. Our rehearsals are on Monday evenings from 7:15 pm to 8:30 pm. Please contact our Director of Music, Mr.Jim Collins at 773-286-4311, with any questions.

  • Children's Choir - The Children's Choir for children from kindergarten through 3rd grade meets every Sunday at 11:00. The Children's Choir prepares for special occasions during the year, such as Christmas Eve and Easter Sunday. For more information, please contact the children's choir director, Ms. Robin Raimondi, at 847-940-4980 or our Director of Music, Mr. Jim Collins, at 773-286-4311.

    Outreach Programs

  • Career Renewal Ministry - The purpose of the Career Renewal Ministry is to support and assist individuals who have become unemployed, are seeking employment for the first time or are re-entering the job market after a significant absence. The Career Renewal Ministry was formed in 1986 by members of St. Gregory's Episcopal Church and Holy Cross Catholic Church in Deerfield. Since that time, the ministry has worked with over 500 participants, assisting many directly or indirectly in their career searches. Contact Woody Lovacheff at 847-948-8083 for more information. • Outreach - Reflected by our commitment to give 10% of all parish income to local, national, and international ministries and missionaries.

We also welcome the following 12-Step Meetings:

    Mondays at 7:30 PM: Al-Anon

Thursdays at 8:00 PM: Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)

Saturdays at 8:30 AM: Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACOA)

  • St. Gregory's Labyrinth - The Labyrinth Ministry facilitates regular labyrinth services and open walks, and offers education about the labyrinth. An integral part of this ministry is outreach to the greater community. St. Gregory's envisions sharing the labyrinth with any persons or organizations who connect with the labyrinth as a spiritual tool, and to share the healing power of the labyrinth with children, youth and adults alike.

  • Support Our Troops - St. Gregory’s Troop Care Package Ministry began in April, 2005. Donations of package items and money are collected from church members and community supporters to fund this effort. Every 6-8 weeks we pack and send care packages to deployed troops mostly in Iraq and Afghanistan. We have received many thank you letters from our troops telling us how much it means to receive these care packages. For more information call the church office at: 847-945-1678 or email us at troopsupport@stgregoryschurch.org.

Please keep the men and women serving in our armed forces and their families in your prayers. To add a loved one to the Prayers of the People to be prayed for by name at our worship services, please e-mail us at troopsupport@stgregoryschurch.org.

    Youth Ministry

  • Youth Programs - Build upon the foundation of love and friendship established by the Church school curriculum. Focus on ongoing spiritual development, interaction with peers and the importance of the individual.
